Summary/Abstract: Since 1997, International Forum Bosnia / Međunarodni Forum Bosna has promoted a non-ethnicized, inter-confessional, and inclusive model of society in Bosnia and Herzegovina (henceforth ‘Bosnia’ for short). It strives for “the sustainability of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a plural society with a very rich political and cultural heritage” (IFB n.d.), and promotes research and action furthering this aim. One of the Forum’s founding acts was to organise a conference on the Bosnian Paradigm in Sarajevo in 1998. Crucially, the conference title reveals that the research and initiatives promoted by International Forum Bosnia have implications beyond Bosnia’s borders. In other words, they can serve as a paradigm for research in the Balkans, Europe, and the world beyond Bosnia. And as a paradigm for action to enable societies of whatever size, from micro-community to nation-state, not just to coexist in mutual respect, but to interact and learn from each other.
