ZBATIMI I STANDARDEVE NË PËRPUNIMIN E KOLEKSIONEVE BIBLIOTEKARE
IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARDS IN THE PROCESSING OF LIBRARY COLLECTIONS

Summary/Abstract: Given the role and importance of international standards in the field of Archives and Libraries, through this topic I have tried to reflect some of them, which are necessary in the processing of library collections. As it is known, the application of standards in the processing of library collections is a necessity, because through them a higher degree of processing of collections is achieved on the basis of norms and rules that regulate this very important activity. As it is known according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the standard is a document for multiple and general use, approved by consensus, allowed and accepted by the institutions, which contains the rules, instructions and characteristics of the activity and the results of and guarantees the best degree of regularity in certain circumstances. In this paper I will try to break down practical aspects of the implementation of international standards in the National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani”, with special focus on the following standards: Universal Decimal Classification Standard (KUD), International Book Number Standard (ISBN), International Music Number Standard (ISMN) and International Series Publication Number Standard (ISSN). Each of these standards regulates a specific area of a particular activity and has distinct characteristics that distinguish it from each other. But their universal value lies in the fact that they are applied worldwide and as such facilitate and facilitate the rapid circulation of information about library collections.
