Summary/Abstract: Acute myocardial infarction is a condition of ischemic necrosis caused by a sudden interruption of the coronary flow in certain regions of the myocardium. Present ECG signs of myocardial ischemia, especially ST-segment and T-wave changes, as well as signs of myocardial necrosis, especially QRS complex changes, clinical picture and elevated cardiac enzymes are required for diagnosis. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present the incidence of acute myocardial infarction and the method of treatment in patients hospitalized in PHI "Clinical Hospital" - Shtip, over a period of three years. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in PHI "Clinical Hospital" - Shtip, in the period between 2020-2022. Patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction and the method of treatment received were included in the study. The obtained data are systematized, presented tabularly and graphically. Results: During 2020, of the total number of hospitalized patients with acute myocardial infarction, which is 175 patients, 147 are men and 24 are women. Of the total number, 147 patients completed percutaneous coronary intervention with placement of a stent on the culprit lesion, 4 patients were treated with intensive medicinal intravenous treatment, and 24 patients were transported to a cardiac surgery facility for coronary bypass surgery due to multivessel coronary artery disease. During 2021 year of the total number of hospitalized patients with acute myocardial infarction, which is 135 patients, 100 are men and 35 are women. Of the total number, 104 patients ended up with percutaneous coronary intervention with placement of a stent on the culprit lesion, 5 patients were treated with intensive medicinal intravenous treatment, and 26 patients were transported to a cardiac surgery facility for coronary bypass surgery due to multivessel coronary artery disease. During the year 2022, of the total number of hospitalized patients with acute myocardial infarction, which is 191 patients, 134 are men and 57 are women. Of the total number, 103 patients completed percutaneous coronary intervention with placement of a stent on the culprit lesion, 3 patients were treated with intensive medicinal intravenous treatment, and 85 patients were transported to a cardiac surgery facility for coronary bypass surgery due to multivessel coronary artery disease.
