Summary/Abstract: During the first, the second and the third waveof coronavirus infections in Poland, the authorsconducted empirical online research inspiredby the theoretical potential of everyday life sociologyand the sociology of disaster. One of theinteresting problems which came to the surfacewhen the project was carried out, was the issue ofchanges in human-animal relations, in the behavi-our of animals during lockdown and in people’sown behaviour towards animals. Interpretationsof the research results presented in this paperconcern two spheres: the home sphere – with theanimals which live in it – and the urban sphere –including the free-living animals (also homelessand abandoned ones). We believe that the resultsof this research contribute to the broadening ofour knowledge on the matter of human-animalfamiliarness as well as on urban ecosystems andthe possibilities of their cultural-environmentalexploration.
