Summary/Abstract: In the article, Grzegorz Leszczyński discusses the topic of so-called “books for boys”. By referring to the pragmatics of a work he proves the existence of the literary genre which has remained marginalized in literary research due to the recently predominant trend of feministic reading of books. Using the examples of poems (e.g. T. Nowosielski, J. Czechowicz, J. Papuzińska), novels and stories addressed not only to a young reader (e.g. G. Kasdepke, P. Beręsewicz, J. Olech, A. Onichimowska, G. Gortat, W. Kuczok) as well as lyrics of youth punk rock songs, the author discusses communicative strategies inherent in those literary works and determined by a culturally-understood gender. He enumerates three such strategies: of a knight (manifests itself mainly in works containing elements of fairy tales and fantasy), a jester (present in comic stories and novels) and the attitude of a lunatic (inherent in parabolic works and novels of manners for young readers).
