Summary/Abstract: The article presents examples of descriptions and differences in terminology (using examples of Polish scientific and popular literature) between the concepts of placard and poster. Those concepts are described as close to each other (but not identical) in terms of editorial-publishing printing documents. A degree of inconsistency in the definition will be presented for both terms being used over the years in publishing and in Polish dictionary (some used these concepts as replacements or synonyms). Artists’ opinions will also be presented in characterizing the two concepts – mainly the concept of the poster. The article also aims at presenting the new definitions of placard and poster.
