Summary/Abstract: Discussions on how the EU decision making is realized, have been and continue to be numerous. Some authors think that the decision- making within the EU institutions is almost totally isolated and so interest groups do not have influence on it. Some others support the idea that there are so many interest groups that influence the EU and in this way the decisions are products of broad interests. In fact, it is not easy for these groups to be successful in their attempt to influence the EU. Also, it is difficult to say that all the groups are successful or equally successful on it. Each group uses one or more strategies to influence the EU decision- makings but the result is never certain. Anyway, referring to a considerable number of authors and articles, business groups are the most successful groups in terms of influence in EU decision-making. This essay is going to explain some of the reasons that make business groups as successful as they are in this process.
