Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the determinants of cross-country differences in GDP growth of transition economies of Eastern Europe. The main focus of the research is the relationship between progress in reforms, as measured by the EBRD transition indicators, and economic growth. This study builds on the available literature, economic growth theory and panel data regression analysis. The novelty of this study is the use of the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimator, an approach that is distinctive from other studies covering this topic. The second contribution to the literature is the separate estimation of the effects of market, financial and enterprise reform. This paper finds that that market liberalization has had most effect on growth, and it is followed by financial reform and then enterprise reforms.
