Summary/Abstract: This paper draws on the lessons learned from the recent financial crisis regarding the improvement of legal framework of the financial system as a whole as well as the main aspects that reforms are mandated to improve this system’s legal framework with reference to specific sectors’ characteristics. This paper focuses on challenges and legal framework of insurance sector worldwide as well as on AFSA’s role as the regulator of the non banking financial markets in Albania. This paper also analyzes the projects launched from AFSA on improvement of legal framework and insurance supervision in Albania through the implementation of risk focused supervision methodology
