Summary/Abstract: The strong need to reorient the economy from a linear to a resource-efficient circular economy is communicated by the sci- entific community of different disciplines as well as by political deci- sion-makers and international organizations. The aim of the article is to present social innovations of the greatest importance for developinga circular economy of bio-packaging. The conclusions are based on the results of research conducted with the participation of the authors of the article within the international project titled “New Frontiers in Social Innovation Research: Social Innovation Management for BIOPlas- tics” (2020–2023). The development of social innovations in the face of identified challenges on the bio-packaging market is clearly aimed at ensuring their circularity. The social innovations of the highest importance for closing the bio-packaging cycle in the economy are the national strategy for the development of the compostable packaging market, the industry organization, and the B2B technology platform.
