Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses Henryk Skirmuntt’s adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Pan Wołodyjowski (Fire in the Steppe) for a musical drama. The author introduces the composer of the opera, libretto’s plot and its contents contained in three acts. Further, she analyzes Pan Wołodyjowski as a musical drama. She also quotes interesting opinions of musical critics concerning the opera Pan Wołodyjowski, Henryk Skirmuntt and the opera staging and reception as presented in specialized press.
