Information service as a media machine

Summary/Abstract: Information service as a media machine is a model of a city’s internet portal customised to meet aesthetic and information needs of inhabitants of a post-modern city. Features of post-modernity indicated by architects, urban planners and culture experts and presented in Ewa Rewers’ Post-polis. Wstęp do filozofii ponowoczesnego miasta (Post-polis. Introduction to a Philosophy of a Post-modern City, Kraków 2005) were applied to analyze the architecture of a shopping and cultural centre designed by Robert Brodziński and Andrzej Niegrzybowski and the information architecture of a city’s web site. The article presents the results of the analyses and the discovered analogies; it also puts forward theoretical and practical solutions relating to the information architecture of web sites.
