Summary/Abstract: Stage directions defined pragmatically as information or instruction from the author have been considered in the context of the dramatic work as a marginal – or side – text. Ingarden’s stratification of the dramatic text prevents us from taking an overall look at the structure of the work. We can look at the drama from two perspectives; we can consider it to be a literary work of art or a text whose primary function is to be used for stage-production. From the modern point of view (especially the functional one), these two perspectives require a text description which would include both heterogeneous aspects.
