Summary/Abstract: Domestic violence is a phenomenon that humanity has faced since ancient times, the diversity of forms of manifestation, as well as the way in which it was perceived by individuals favoring its perpetuation, so we still find it a very important and difficult issue, at the same time, to be removed. At European level, the European Court of Human Rights has a significant role to play in combating domestic violence, using all the means set out in the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. As we will see, many states have been condemned for their treatment of domestic violence, including Romania. In this paper, we aim to examine how the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights has influenced domestic law on domestic violence.
