Summary/Abstract: This study on the effects of money is by no means limited to a narrow economic sense. Money is capable to affect the social as an autonomous shaping and change inducing force—often with ambivalent consequences. In this paper we explore the feature attributed to money to transform all relationships to money nexus in the context of love. We address the question of how self-restraining—or not—is money in this regard when it comes to love, in particular in a context where the specific institutional order of the civil marriage ideal of ‘money and love’ is not in full force (any more): in the case of two-income couples.
