Summary/Abstract: Media linguistics devotes much attention to persuasive communication as one of themechanisms of mass media influence on society. Jaśmina Śmiech’s article focuses on persuasivestatements present in selected contemporary Polish animated series for children. The objective of thearticle is to answer the question of how persuasive communication promotes the implementationof the culture-making functions of mass media. The working assumption is that content addressedto child audiences takes specific linguistic forms that reflect a specific vision of the audience as wellas the projection of their interests and competencies. Jaśmina Śmiech analyses aspects of persuasivestatements: modality, emotionality, and the presence of value-oriented lexis. The conclusions thatemerge from this research indicate saturation of Polish animated films for children with persuasivestatements with a high degree of overtness and a cautious attitude to persuasive tools that requirethe viewer’s interpretive independence.
