Summary/Abstract: Almost any person, who is at least to the small extent engaged with international relations, has heard about the Visegrád Group, or in short: Visegrád Four (V4). It is a political alliance of four Central European states – Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. The group was established at a summit meeting in the Hungarian castle town of Visegrád in year 1991. The name of the group, however, was inspired by the place of meeting of the Bohemian, Polish and Hungary-Croatian rulers in Visegrád in 1335, at that time with the aim to get easier access to European markets. This, in a way, is also the claim of nowadays “Visegrád”. So V4 vibrates much more than broadly acronym.
