Summary/Abstract: A presentation of a short history of Ukrainian photography, which for decades has been developing despite censorship and political persecutions, and ultimately – since 2014 – is facing an indirect threat of war. Nonetheless, successive generations of Ukrainian photographers fearlessly confront reality, also by creating their own, unique schools and ways of depiction.
