Summary/Abstract: The animal world, as a fundamental component of the biodiversity of a natural ecosystem, plays a significant role in ecological balance maintenance. A series of animal species serve as sources for obtaining some raw industrial material, medical, food-related and other necessary for the national economy material values. Other species are used for scientific, cultural-educational and aesthetical scopes. The specific place of the animal kingdom as an indispensable part of the natural environment is caused by its dependence on the survival environment (habitat) within the frame of which an organism or other exists. Under the influence of human factors, animal kingdom diversity, unfortunately, decreases continuously. In this context, the authors come up with the initiative to realize a study regarding the legal regime applicable to the damages caused to the animal kingdom, to identify the categories of damage and their particular characteristics, the causes generating damage to the animal kingdom.
