Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of cross-border crimes is very developed at the current stage, andmigration has changed essentially depending on its objectives, causes, directions, and intensity. The increase in the number of the population of the world normally accompanies the increase inthe number of immigrants around the world. The flow of illegal immigrants negatively influences employment in the labor field, as wellas the socio-economic situation in the country. In addition, the identification, maintenance, andreturn of immigrants from abroad are associated with some additional financial expenses.Migration is an important dimension of globalization, and its dynamics are increasingly connectedto changes in social structures and the global economy. This trend of international migration isnow characteristic of all areas of the world, and the motivations and means to migrate are morenumerous than at any time in human history. It is known that the phenomenon of illegal migration is very difficult to prevent orinvestigate by law enforcement agencies because this type of crime is included in the list of latentcrimes and can only be stopped utilizing legal instruments - special investigative measures.Special investigative measures are carried out only when it is impossible to ensure thefulfillment of the tasks provided for in Art. 2 of Law 59/2012 regarding the special investigativeactivity. The measures in question have an informative search character and are aimed atobtaining information about people who conceive, prepare or commit crimes, about the presenceof material traces of illegal activity, including about people who intend or organize illegalmigration.
