Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to draw a parallel between the Judaic anthropogonical outlook, later on taken over by Christianity, and the anthropogonical outlook of the ancient Greeks. There are obvious similarities between these outlooks, but also visible differences whereby Judaic anthropogony distances itself from the Greek view. Both see man as being made of clay, but, unlike Zeus who orders a lesser divinity to manufacture humans, Yahweh – The God creates man Himself, as the climax of His creation work, giving him life though the divine breath. The terms in which man is defined have important symbolic values, which highlight the understanding of the significance of this biology marked by the active presence of the divine breath.
