Report on the ceremony for the renewal of the doctoral degree of Professor Wieslaw Puś – the founder of the journal “Studies in Social and Economic History of the 19th and 20th Centuries” [„Studia z Historii Społeczno-Gospodarczej XIX i XX Wieku”], L

Summary/Abstract: Among academic ceremonies, those aimed at honoring the most outstanding and deserving individuals in the community have a special dimension. At the University of Lodz, since 2004, such individuals associated with the university have been honored with a doctoral renewal ceremony on the fiftieth anniversary of their doctorate. On June 27, 2023, in the beautiful hall of the Biedermann Palace of the University of Lodz, such an honor was given to Prof. Wieslaw Puś, a historian still professionally connected with the University of Lodz, the originator, founder and first Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal “Studies in Social and Economic History of the 19th and 20th Centuries.” The promoter of the doctoral renewal was Prof. Jaroslaw Kita, PhD, head of the Department of 19th Century Polish History, who delivered the occasional laudation. The ceremony was attended by a group of friends, colleagues and students of the Professor, who has made enormous contributions not only to the development of Łódź history, but also to the entire University, where he was rector for two terms.
