The Theology of the Hymnography of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple Feast

Summary/Abstract: The present study refers to the theology of the hymnography of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple (Presentation) Feast. In the introduction of the study, I presented some general information regarding this feast. Then, most of the study refers tothe following aspects that the hymnography of this Feast develops: foreshadowing the coming of Christ; Virgin Mary as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies; the purpose of bringing the Virgin to the Temple; the purity of the Mother of God; Virgin Mary – New Eve; the joy of the entire cosmos for the Presentation Feast. The synthesis of the Feast theology is contained in the Troparion.
