Summary/Abstract: The study dwells on two issues from the monetary politics area: the evolution of the monetary mass in the 2004 – 2007 interval, according to the Central European Bank regulations and the dollarisation quota of Romanian economy having in sight the switch to the Euro currency. Referring to the first aspect, the Romanian market remains a very cash-dependent one; the quota of e-money is still low. Concerning the second aspect, the study highlights the fact that although we did not join the European Monetary System, the Romanian economy uses the Euro currency. This is proved by the fact that a large amount of population’s deposits is in Euro and Loan Institutes use foreign currency loans.
