Summary/Abstract: The family is the first circle of socialization of the child. Within the family system and its culture and beliefs, children quickly learn what is expected from them and what it is like to be part of a group. Families set a model and example by which they influence children’s thinking and behaviour. They are natural carriers of values, rituals, and traditions. Also, each family creates its own rules and habits around which it exists. These habits often range from the household level to sharing common activities and behaviour. Families promote socio- emotional learning through implicit, hidden learning – the child learns without knowing that he/she is learning habits, norms, and rules.
