Plato’s metarealism as the doctrine of being, discerned in the “dialectic” of the Parmenides

Summary/Abstract: Based on the assumption that the divine is presenting in the “Parmenides”, the author refers to such a tradition of comments on this dialogue, which indicates the presence in it of a certain ontology, namely – “the doctrine of ideas”, which presupposes the fundamental primacy of the “one” (“ideal”) over the “many” (objects of physical world). The nature of the connection between the “one” and the “many” in the “Parmenides” is fixed; the belonging of objects to “ideas” correlates with the process of creation of the physical world, which makes it possible to join Plato's commentators who combine the dialogues “Parmenides” and “Timaeus” into one group of a dialogues describing ontology. However, the difference between “Parmenides” and “Timaeus” is that in “Parmenides” we see the ontology, that can be considered as an ideal construction of physical reality, which was presented in “Timaeus”. The difference in the description of reality allows us to make a hypothesis of the presence of some higher, meta-realistic level of the description of being in Plato's teaching.
