Summary/Abstract: The process of modernising human resource management has started with developing the Concept of human resource management in the Romanian Armed Forces, whose strategic goal has been to develop a modern management system, capable of ensuring the maintenance of competitiveness in the military employment market. The achievement of this goal has involved, in the author’s opinion, the implementation of a new military career management system; the introduction of a new system of assessment of the military, which provides the framework and organisational tools in meant to improve and streamline the activities of each military man and to support analysis and selection processes for selection committees; the development of a set of principles and rules defining the functions of the Romanian Armed Forces professionalised military personnel, based on which the new organisational charts of the military structures have been projected and materialised.
