Summary/Abstract: 2023 is the year of the teacher and mentor, as well as the year when events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the formation of Ivanovo State University begin. The author turns to the life path and legacy of his teacher, Professor of Ivanovo State University N. R. Korovin, aiming to show him as a teacher, scientist and intellectual. To achieve it, the influence that Professor N. R. Korovin had on his students is considered; his life path and path in science are shown; the scientific heritage of the professor is being studied, including his research on the working class and on the history of the Russian Orthodox Church; to show N. R. Korovin as an intellectual is presented. The article used a systematic approach to assess the life path, educational and scientific activities of Professor N. R. Korovin in the general system of the history of the Soviet and post-Soviet period; the principle of historicism, which makes it possible to consider his life path in formation and development, as well as the principles of scientific reliability and objectivity. The professor helped both the scientific and personal formation and growth of his students. Having entered science as an adult who had already achieved significant results, N. R. Korovin, having defended his PhD thesis at the age of 42, continued to grow as a scientist, defended his doctoral thesis at the age of 60 at Moscow State University. He became a professor, author of over 100 scientific publications, among which the most interesting are studies on the working class. The archives that opened in the 1990s aroused his great interest. A Russian intellectual who came from a peasant family, professor of Ivanovo State University continued his teaching activities until the last year of his life, which ended on December 5, 2012. His life and scientific path is one of those examples that are important today for those who choose the path of a teacher and a scientist.
