Summary/Abstract: The book under review is one of five monographs published in the series “The World to Szczecin” initiated by the Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance in Szczecin in 2020 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the events of December '70. The aim of the series is to show the international perception of the role of Szczecin during the Polish breakthroughs of 1970, 1980 and 1989. The series was also inspired by the famous speech of Winston S. Churchill at the American Westminster College in Fulton on March 5, 1946, in which he uttered the telling words: “From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Conti-nent.” “The Iron Curtain” became over time a symbol of a Europe divided during the Cold War, and the controversy over the final determination of the Polish-German border after World War II was an element generating tension in international relations after 1945. Directly related to this was the question of the status of Szczecin and the importance of this city in Poland's bilateral-regional relations with other countries
