THE DIPLOMACY ADVENTURE OF THE PALESTINE LIBERATION ORGANIZATION (PLO): OSLO PEACE PROCESS

Summary/Abstract: The period in which the Arab-Israeli conflicts in the early 1990s were discussed, the new world order was discussed, and the Cold War, which ended with the collapse of Soviet Russia, is also called the "Middle East Peace Process". The popularity of the concept of "peace process", which has been used since the 1990s, in the international conjuncture has been achieved thanks to the efforts of the parties that could not come together to find solutions to the problems through dialogue. This study will discuss the dialogue process started in Palestine and Israel through regional transformations and the Oslo Peace Process, which began with secret negotiations in which the parties sought solutions to problems within the framework of the principle of "land for peace.” Furthermore, it will examine where they got to know each other officially for the first time. The aim of the USA, which won the victory in the race for regional hegemony, to play a leading role in the ongoing peace negotiations to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be evaluated by considering the perspectives of dialogue and non-conflict in the Middle East, such as trying to increase its prestige by reinforcing its regional leadership, expanding its borders in the areas emptied by Soviet Russia. The gains achieved in the dialogue situations between Israel and the Palestinian authorities, which started with high hopes and lasted for about ten years, took the parties back to where they began as the internal dynamics and security perceptions of the countries could not meet at a common point.
