Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present polish and international regulations relating to the issue of dual and multiple citizenship. Citizenship is one of the most important institutions directly related to the population. Originally, it was associated with only one country. With the passage of time and progressing globalization processes, positions in this regard have changed. At present, there are three approaches to this issue in international practice – from total ban to partial authorization and ending with full acceptance. The Constitution of the Republic of Poland does not prohibit the possession of citizenship of another country. In recent years, a process of gradual liberalization in the approach to this subject has been visible – both at the international and national level. Further globalization processes and the increase in migration should accelerate it even more.
