Summary/Abstract: The scientific article refers to basic issues concerning the regulatory function of the National Bank of Poland. The study aims to demonstrate that the National Bank of Poland, in addition to the issuing function, the function of the state bank and the function of the bank of banks, which are traditionally assigned to central banks, also performs a regulatory function. The article puts forward the following hypothesis: the regulatory function of the National Bank of Poland can be interpreted based on the traditional functions of this bank, in particular the issuing function and the function of the bank of banks and the tasks resulting from them. The reason for taking up this issue is the key importance of the NBP and the functions it performs for the state, economy and society. Moreover, the issue of the regulatory function of the NBP or determining its legal nature as a regulator is not often the subject of in-depth scientific analyses. Therefore, by assumption, the analysis of the issue of the NBP’s regulatory function has both scientific and practical value.
