Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to the study of the morphological method of word formation in the terminology of the oil and gas industry. The main traditional ways of term formation (suffixation, prefix and word composition) are analyzed in this study and the parts of speech used in the word-formation act of Russian terms in the oil and gas industry are examined. On the basis of conducted research, it can be argued that the terms of the oil and gas industry are formed according to the rules of word formation of commonly used vocabulary.
