Short Description

The scientific journal “Problems of Cognitive and Functional Description of Russian and Bulgarian Languages” was first published in 2002.

The seventeen volumes printed so far are the result of the development and implementation of various research projects at the Department of Russian Studies, headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Damyan Mitev, Prof. Dr. Totka Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anna Nikolova, Prof. Dr. Valentina Avramova, Prof. Dr. Elena Stoyanova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefka Kaleva, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Petrova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Paliy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadezhda Stoykova.

The topics in the collection are oriented towards the study of cognitive and communicative mechanisms and their role in the functioning of Russian and Bulgarian languages. The series includes researchers from the Department of Russian Studies, competent scholars from Russia, Bulgaria, and other countries. Among them are St. Dimitrova, E. В. Klobukov, L. П. Klobukova, V. М. Shaklein, G. Д. Figurovska, R. М. Gaysina, E. Y. Ivanova, etc. with whom the Department keeps long-lasting and fruitful scientific contacts. Colleagues, who are specialists in Bulgarian studies, English studies, German studies, etc. publish their ideas and empirical research in the journal. Articles are accepted in Russian, Bulgarian, and other Slavic languages, as well as in English.
