Summary/Abstract: Artificial intelligence was not born in a legal vacuum. Despite that, new national and international regulations are necessary to strengthen the positive potential of AI and to prevent or mitigate its negative potential. This article was written to underline the importance of the preparation of a Draft Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law within the Council of Europe. The article will also point to eventual shortcomings of the Draft.
