Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse semantic fluency in preschool children in the category of animals. A study on eighteen children aged from three years and two months to six years and three months demonstrated that from age four years and six months the results increased significantly: the number of correctly updated words (from four–nine words to eight–twenty words), the number of clusters (from one–four clusters to three–seven clusters) and the number of switches (from one–five switches to three– –nine switches), while the size of clusters remains at a similar level (two–three words). The presented results are only preliminary study. For further research, it is necessary to establish the strict criteria for counting correct answers and the number of clusters and switches.
