Summary/Abstract: Professor Tudor Teoteoi represents, especially for some of the younger historians, a model in the field of historical research. From the search of „what has happened”, in the historical sources, in the original languages of these sources, to the collection of data, of the significances and meanings of the historical event, with all the implications of detailed temporal developments and „permanent” forms of life to the reconstruction and description in the architecture of the text of the various „faces” of the past in a dense, but clear and persuasive form, through analytical and critical approach, professor Tudor Teoteoi stands as such a model. In the present study we endeavor to outline his approach to history, as it is to be found in some of his remarks, following that in the second part of this study, which will be published separately, to share systematically some fundamental themes of medieval Byzantine history that were part of the concerns of Professor Tudor Teoteoi throughout his career.
