Summary/Abstract: The author have presented an assessment of health status and mortality data for the Łódź Voivodeship against these for the whole of Poland and the voivodeships with the highest life expectancy indicators. The analysis draws on decomposition of changes in life expectancy by sex and age group. This method allowed for the identification of those age groups in which changes in mortality had the greatest influence on the eо parameter level. The study is important for the Łódź Voivodeship depopulation problem, observed since many years.
