Summary/Abstract: This article discusses changes in land use in two areas located on the southern outskirts of Łódź. It was based on an analysis of land use data obtained from aerial photographs taken in 1973 and an orthophotomap from 2017. After 44 years, significant changes had taken place in the city and they were reflected in land use. The study areas covered 190 ha and, in the period analysed, land use had changed over an area of 115 ha, more than 60% of its total surface. They mainly occurred on pasture and arable land which was developed into built-up areas.
