Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to characterise Julian Pietrzyk’s output in the field of furniture design. The basis for the analysis are pieces of furniture attributed to the designer, as well as materials relating to his education obtained from the Archives of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. The aim of the article is to place Pietrzyk’s work within the currents in Polish furniture-making in the interwar period, as well as to show it in the broader context of his education at the School of Decorative Arts and Artistic Industry in Cracow. Pietrzyk’s career in furniture design was associated with Szczepan Łojek’s company. Archival query at the Archive of New Records in Warsaw, the National Archive in Cracow, and the State Archive in Katowice (Bielsko-Biała branch) made it possible to establish the history of the Artistic Furniture Factory owned by Szczepan Łojek.
