Summary/Abstract: Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign not only led to the discovery of the monuments of the pharaonic state, but also opened a new chapter in medical science. Encounter with many epidemic and endemic diseases has led to rationalization of views on the spread of infections. This was the case, among others, in the case of the plague, epidemics of which often broke out in the Middle East, practically at the gates of Europe. Creating a model of sanitary procedures contributed to reducing the risk.
