Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses the issues of defining a specialist medical language and teaching at the A1–A2 level in multinational groups during the Polish language course at a medical university, showing the problems and difficulties associated with it. It discusses the individual stages of creating a specialist language course, from the profile of an English-speaking student and the analysis of his needs, to specific methods of introducing medical vocabulary, which is necessary at an early stage of knowledge of Polish for relative communication freedom when contacting a Polish-speaking patient. The aim of the paper was to show that introducing a specialist language is possible already at the level A1–A2, as well as drawing attention to the problem of specialist language courses – the lack of tools, materials and training necessary to prepare original proposals for specialist courses.
