Summary/Abstract: The presented article offers a brief sociological overview of the emergence and formation of the Slovak military elite after the establishment of the Slovak Republic in 1993. The examined topic is based on the current understanding of the military elite, which focuses on generality. The topic is examined in the context of the development of the Slovak armed forces and the military-organizational changes that the Ministry of Defense went through at the end of the last century and in the two decades of the new millennium. The generals of the Slovak armed forces in the period under review are classified into four groups based on the year and conditions of their appointment to the rank. The data is analyzed based on indicators: age of appointment as a general, completion of military schools (academies), promotion to the rank of general, length of service in the rank of the general, total length of military service, and retirement age.
