Summary/Abstract: The article constitutes a trigger to the history of the scholastic reception of S. Żeromski’sSiłaczka (“The Strongwoman”) from the post-war times until the present day. Through theanalysis of the scheduled documents dated between 1947 and 2017 as well as basing onsome chosen methodical resources (handbooks, layouts, the topics of competitions relatedto Polish studies) the author tries to determine the reasons for the absence of the novel inthe new core curriculum. Based on the theoretical studies on the field of the literature’s scholasticreception and on the basis of the students’ testimonies of their Żeromski’s text receptions, the article formulates the diagnoses of the receptive attitudes of the lower secondaryschool pupils towards the novel and it considers the possible perspectives for Siłaczka (“TheStrongwoman”) on Polish lessons and their desired conditioning.
