Summary/Abstract: "Kabaja" with saze, an instrumental genre of "Albanian Folk Iso Polyphony,"1 played with clarinet or violin, has been around for about 150 years, the most complete and perfect type formation in the popular (folk) music with instruments of Southern Albania, that can be compared very well with instrumental concerts of other cultured kinds of music. As a thousand-year-old popular (folk) musical heritage, moreover recognized by UNESCO as an integral part of the "Representative List of Intangible Heritage," it has long aroused the interest of local2 and foreign3 researchers. As for the meaning of this word, in the "Dictionary of Today's Albanian Language," Kaba has several meanings.
