Summary/Abstract: The article is the result of the research conducted on a sample of 400 Polish enterprises offering products and services. The aim of the research was to assess the potential of circular economy business models for the development of enterprises, in particular, in the context of sustainable development challenges. In the article the assessment was made of circular economy practices among the selected Polish enterprises, pointing out the differences in perceiving their impact on business operations. Acknowledging the benefits such as lower costs and higher competitiveness, two thirds of the enterprises under study do not invest in circular economy solutions, mainly due to perceived investment obstacles. Moreover, almost half of them do not have strategic goals regarding waste management, indicating the need for greater awareness and strategic integration of circular economy principles. The study also noted a general lack of recognition of circular economy models as a competitive advantage, and few enterprises were identified as role models. This suggests a discrepancy between recognizing the benefits of the circular economy and its actual implementation. What underlines the potential of financial incentives for adopting this kind of economy.
