Summary/Abstract: The word race does not yet have a single and universally accepted meaning. Despite the etymological uncertainty surrounding the word race, scholars have identified two main meanings of the word race that form the basis for all approaches to race. The first meaning of the word race (genealogical) understands race as an origin, lineage, branch, lineage, generation, clan, tribe. And the second meaning of the word race (typological) understands race as a type, class, kind. Importantly, adherence to either of these meanings of the word race will fundamentally affect whether or not a given meaning of the word race becomes (or fails to become) usable in racial ideology. And the present study will point out how the Nazis applied precisely the genealogical meaning of the word race in their racist “theory.”
