Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to show the importance of intergenerational volunteering in building a civil society on a local, regional, national and global scale. Skillful use of the social potential of young and old prevents social isolation and marginalization. Volunteering also shapes social trust, which in turn leads to cooperation for the common good (fighting egoism and egocentrism). The article presents forms of intergenerational volunteering along with examples of good practices. The idea of civil society is therefore a postulate addressed to all generations, and its highest level of development is the use of the capital of these generations together, not in isolation.
