Summary/Abstract: Music as a form of idea transmission and interpersonal communication (mainly due its capability to reveal one’s emotions) is used successfully during the occupational therapy with seniors staying in institutions of support and care. The most often these are occupational therapy workshops and nursing homes. Furthermore, this form of therapy is used informally in other institutions, such as the universities of the third age or senior clubs. It can either take the passive form – listening to music, but also the active – practicing music (for example: singing, composing). Music improves mental state, but it also affects human physical state. Firstly, music prevents; secondly, it rehabilitates; thirdly, it corrects and fourthly, it cures.
