Summary/Abstract: Aim. The purpose of the study was to test the relationships between locus of control and economic views, and to determine whether causal attribution of common economic problems is a mediator between these variables.Methods. The study (N = 123) used three questionnaires: the KPP political views questionnaire by Czarnek, and colleagues (2017), the I-E scale by J. Rotter translated by R. Drwal (1978) - which measures locus of control, and the original questionnaire measuring causal attribution of economic problems.Results. The results of the study show that the hypothesis of a positive correlation between internal locus of control and economic right-wingness has been confirmed. Moreover, it was shown that there is a negative correlation between internal locus of control and xenophobia, a positive correlation between individual attribution of economic problems and internal locus of control. A negative correlation of systemic explanations of economic problems with economic rightness was also shown. For the older subjects, the attribution of economic problems at random was a mediator between locus of control and acceptance of capitalism.Conclusions. The results of the study indicate a significant relationship between the locus of control and economic views. In addition to this, they indicate a link between these variables and causal attribution of economic problems, but this only applies to older people. The study also shows a stronger relationship between locus of control and economic views, compared to cultural views.
